Break-up over drug deals leads to kidnapping | Crime
A Memphis woman allegedly kidnapped by her boyfriend after breaking up with him over drug deals escaped by whispering her location to responding officers, police said.
According to an affidavit of complaint, Tommie Kyle was driving around town with his girlfriend and four friends when he stopped at Walgreens to fill prescriptions for Xanax and Hydrocodone, which he immediately sold off for cash to buy crack cocaine. Police said his girlfriend told him she was breaking up with him and that he had to move out of the house because she was unaware that he smoked crack and sold pills.
Kyle dropped of one friend, Brandon Nathan, then allegedly drove away with the three other friends still in the car. Nathan called police. While on scene, he got a call from Kyle's girlfriend, who led police to their location by, according to the affidavit, whispering to officers "street names and directions of travel while officers attempted to catch up." Police eventually caught up with the car on Summer Avenue and arrested Kyle for possession of crack cocaine and false imprisonment. Investigators say they found a rock of crack and $419 in Kyle's jeans pockets.
His three friends were not harmed.
Kyle is locked up at 201 poplar on $40,000. He's due in court on March 18.
