Woman arrested for throwing puppy off second floor balcony

(WMC-TV) – A 28-year-old woman is charged with domestic assault and cruelty to animals after police say she threw a pit-bull puppy off of her balcony.

Officers responded to an apartment on East Raines Road where Mary Williams was having an argument with her roommate, who was moving out.

The victim said she recently moved out and returned to collect her belongings.  That’s when she said Williams threatened to pull her down the stairs by her hair.

As she took her things downstairs, the victim and another witness said they watched as Williams tossed a four to seven month old pit-bull over the second floor balcony.

Officers believe the puppy broke its leg in the fall.

Williams was arrested and taken to jail.
