Shelby County offers free dental exams for kids | Health
Title (Max 100 Characters)
The Shelby County Health Department’s School Based Preventive Dental Program will be offering free dental screenings and sealant placement services this summer to children and teens ages 5-15 as part of its summer outreach initiative.
Dental sealants are a type of plastic material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of the teeth of children and young adults to prevent tooth decay. The sealants act as a barrier to protect these chewing surfaces.
The purpose of these events is to teach children and their parents about the importance of good oral hygiene to overall health. Free on-site dental screenings, sealants, educational presentations and incentives will be provided to children.
Parental consent is required and consent forms will be available at the screening location.
