Scenic Terrace fire claims second victim | News

A Wednesday morning house fire has claimed a second life.

An explosion sparked the fire in the 3200 block of Scenic Terrace just before six a.m.

Two women were trapped in the burning home and had to be rescued by firefighters. An 80-year-old woman died from the fire later that morning and investigators say a 60-year-old woman died from her injuries at the hospital around 7:30 Thursday night.

A 70-year-old man was able to escape the flames unharmed.

There have been six fire deaths in Shelby County this year.
